      Overall, we have been really impressed with the Empwr programme. Students responded warmly to the facilitators who were working with groups of some of our more high need pupils - many of whom can display challenging behaviour. Despite this, it was clear to see that some of our most vulnerable pupils quickly connected with the facilitators and were comfortable in sharing and being open across their sessions in a fun and engaging way. Gemma provided timely and informative reports from the intensive workshop on offer. Through this, we were able to provide explicit strategies to teachers about what support the pupils would benefit from and we were also provided with guidance on suggested next steps to benefit the pupil's learning and progress over time based on the observations of the facilitators but also from students being honest and open about what they needed. For some students it provided a chance to be seen in a different light: one student in particular worked incredibly well leading others within group work and this has provided us with the ability to nurture this and push for him to take on this role in a classroom setting or outside of the sessions where normally he shied away from it. For others, they have been equipped with skills to stop and consider their reactions or manage moments of dysregulation better. There have been occasions since the workshop where pupils have referred back to the sessions and what was covered to support other friends in moments of crisis or dysregulation to help them manage the situation better. All students finished the programme and graduated with a huge sense of pride in their achievements and celebrating this with their teachers was something that they genuinely enjoyed.
